KDI ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Recent grants, programs, and projects

2003 Hosted a International Program fostering business relationships with China
2003 Support for the early elimination of the Inventory Tax
2004 Obtained Community Development Action grant from IDOC to assist in funding economic development in county.
2004 Hosted September Commerce Blitz - visited over 24 companies to inform them of new assistance programs through the state.       
2004 Coordinated a Energize Indiana Conference in the county to educate northern Indiana leaders about economic development resources throughout the state.
2004 Worked with Workforce Development and Commerce Department to expand training services in county. DePuy receives $161,000 in grants to train employees. 
2004 & 2006 Completed a county-wide wage survey  
2005 Received Indiana Rural Development Grant to establish a low interest revolving loan program for small businesses in the county.
2006 Awarded CDAG grant for 2006/07 to assist with economic development in the county from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.
2006 Provided assistance to the Louis Dreyfus Corp. to locate Biofuel plant in Claypool.
2006 Opening of Ivy Tech's Orthopedic and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center.
2007 Obtained a grant to assist with marketing KDI's Business Expo.
2007 Opening of the Orthopaedic Capital Center at Grace College.


KDI has provided technical assistance to the following projects:

  • G.I. Tape & Label expansion 2003/2004
  • Symmetry Medical Inc. new Design & Development Center 2004        
  • Lippert Components development in Milford 2004
  • Paragon Medical, Inc.. expansion in Pierceton 2004/2005
  • Assisted small businesses in Pound Industrial Park with infrastructure grant 2005.
  • Provided tax abatement assistance to small and large businesses wanting to expand in the county 2004/2005.
  • Established a Business Retention & Expansion Committee to visit county-wide businesess.


On-going Projects:

  • Provides a resource of technical support for local governments, nonprofit organizations, and private business

  • Provides information regarding community development funding options for local government units in Kosciusko County
