Expansion and retention programs are vital to continued stability and development in a thriving community. Referrals to business support agencies are important to assist our local businesses with resources to expand or remain productive in our county.
- Manage and market Small Business Revolving Loan program.
- Coordinate and monitor existing business visitation program.
- Develop and utilize a business retention and expansion database.
- Current information on existing business incentive programs.
- Address workforce and training issues with local education and state workforce programs.
- Co-sponsor with the chamber the annual Taste & Trade business expo.
Marketing and Attraction
It is essential to our county to diversify business and industry development for future growth.
- Review regional economic development initiatives.
- Develop focused plan to target attractive businesses.
- Work with site selectors to promote the county.
- Accumulate current demographic information about the county.
- Monitor available incentive programs.
- Manage KEDC website and promote county-wide properties through state website.
- Cultivate new business and industry development through entrepreneurship programs such as providing monthly counseling session through the Small Business Development Center.
Infrastructure Development
Infrastructure development and investment are crucial to the process of economic development in the county. Good communication between local officials and the infrastructure needs of the community fuel future growth opportunities.
- Monitor community needs/initiatives (roads, clean lakes, sewer, airport, rail, housing and quality of life).
- Active communication between City, County, Towns and Redevelopment Commission.
- Explore and coordinate grant writing opportunities for infrastructure development.
